I'm Sun Yayue. If I were to introduce myself in one sentence, I think "taking an unconventional path" might be the most appropriate one.

My parents are explorers and practitioners of the new educational concepts in China. Therefore, from the age of 4 to 11, I did not enter a public school like most Chinese children. Instead, I spent a carefree and innocent childhood in a private school that mainly focused on learning traditional Chinese classics. There are no strict subject-based courses here. Self-study is the main educational approach. During this period, I fully enjoyed the pleasure brought by self-directed free reading. All kinds of books from both China and the West have enriched my knowledge and broadened my horizons. Flexible project-based learning has also cultivated my excellent abilities in observation and hands-on experimentation.

Meanwhile, I have always been fond of learning art since I was a child. I began to learn Chinese calligraphy, painting and other traditional Chinese art forms at the age of five, and started to learn Western contemporary art and painting at the age of eleven. Years of study and training in artistic skills have endowed me with a strong sense of imagination and creativity, which brings me a continuous stream of inspiration and motivation for my artistic creation.

I am very fortunate and proud to have had a unique learning experience, which has cultivated my ability to think independently and my spirit of daring to reflect and criticize. I am never content with or simply trust book knowledge. I enjoy analyzing and studying things from different perspectives and drawing my own conclusions. Although they may not always be correct, the pleasure of such thinking keeps me entertained. The topics of humanity, life, death and art are themes that I particularly enjoy contemplating and also the creative directions of many of my artworks. But no matter how the world changes, I believe that kindness, honesty, justice, compassion and bravery must always be the noble qualities that humanity is most worthy of pursuing and possessing.
